Ed Procter, CEO of IMPRESS gives evidence to the APPG on Religion in the Media

Today, Ed Procter, Chief Executive Officer of IMPRESS, provided evidence to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Religion in the Media, in the context of their inquiry into religious literacy in print and broadcast media.

The goal of the inquiry is "to examine how different groups, such as faith communities and media professionals, understand religious literacy and what steps can be taken to cultivate a media environment which is religiously literate."

Ed Procter spoke about the role of press regulation and the importance of publishers adopting ethical standards to produce high-quality reporting.

The IMPRESS Standards Code contains a Discrimination clause, which acknowledges the harms discrimination and hate speech can cause to faith communities.
