ADVISORY NOTICE: Journalists and photographers to respect the requirements on social distancing during the COVID-19 public health crisis

Publishers are advised to ensure that journalists and photographers respect the requirements on social distancing during the COVID-19 public health crisis. These requirements have the ultimate force of law.

IMPRESS operates a key worker scheme which authorizes regulated journalists to continue to engage in public interest reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic when other industries and professions are locked down. Key worker privileges also carry responsibilities and are granted on the basis that journalists and photographers will respect the law that applies to them. Obvious breaches of the coronavirus regulations by authorized journalists or photographers bring respect for the law into disrepute and give the impression to members of the public that such breaches are permissible.
